Create Podcast Content That Feels Good (And Still Works)

What if your content didn’t just sound strategic—but actually felt like you?

In this episode, I’m sharing what I’ve been learning (and unlearning) about creating content that’s aligned, easeful, and still supports your business goals. If podcasting has started to feel like just another thing on your to-do list, this is your reminder that there’s another way.

Together, we’ll explore how to let go of the pressure to perform, reconnect with your creative energy, and shift back into content creation that feels natural, nourishing, and real.

This isn’t about doing more—it’s about finding your rhythm again, so you can keep showing up in a way that works and feels good.

1. Let Go of the “Shoulds”

One of the biggest reasons content starts to feel draining is because we’re carrying too many “shoulds.”

You should post every week.
You should follow the algorithm.
You should only talk about what’s strategic.

But here’s the truth: the more we create from “should,” the less we create from self. And that’s when the spark starts to fade.

Instead, ask:
🌿 What do I want to say right now?
🌿 What’s coming up in conversations with clients or listeners?
🌿 What feels light, meaningful, and real?

2. Start from Curiosity, Not Performance

So often we approach content with performance pressure—like we need it to land, convert, or impress. But what if we started with curiosity instead?

Curiosity invites creativity. It opens the door to exploring ideas, asking better questions, and making space for your voice to evolve. It allows you to share from a place of wonder, rather than worry.

Your listeners want to grow with you. Let them in on the journey.

3. Balance Strategy with Authenticity

Let’s be clear: strategy matters. We want your podcast to support your business. But strategy that disconnects you from your message? That’s not sustainable.

Instead, aim for content that’s both: ✨ Aligned with your goals
✨ Anchored in your voice and lived experience

That balance builds trust. It keeps your audience engaged, and it keeps you connected to the work.

4. Reconnect to Your Voice

When content starts feeling hard, it’s usually a sign we’ve drifted from our own voice. We’ve been watching what others are doing. Or trying to sound “professional.” Or second-guessing ourselves before we even hit record.

Reconnecting with your voice doesn’t require a rebrand—it requires a deep breath and a little space. It’s lighting a candle, stepping into your creative energy, and remembering why you started.

Because your voice matters. And it’s needed.

5. Build a Rhythm That Supports You

This is about sustainability. Instead of forcing yourself into a rigid content schedule, try finding a rhythm—a natural flow that aligns with your energy and the seasons of your life and business.

When you create from rhythm instead of rigidity, your content becomes more consistent, more grounded, and so much more enjoyable.

Feeling the Shift? Let’s Talk.

If you’re nodding along, thinking “yes, this is what I’ve been needing”—let’s chat.

Sometimes the path back to aligned content is just one conversation away.

216: Create Podcast Content That Feels Good (And Still Works)

[00:00:00] You know that feeling when you're just not excited about your podcast content. Like no matter how much you plan it, it doesn't feel like you. I have been there more times than I can count, and it's not that the ideas were wrong, sometimes they were even strategic on trend. SEO optimized all the things, but they felt empty, like I was creating through , a filter.

[00:00:20] And what I realized is if I'm not feeling connected to the episode I'm creating, my audience feels that too. So I started to shift creating from what felt good first, trusting the energy that would ripple out, and that's what we're gonna explore today. How to create content that feels good for you and your audience.

[00:00:38] This is for the podcaster who wants to feel lit up behind the mic again. So grab your coffee or tea, take a breath, and let's settle in.

[00:00:47] [00:01:00]

[00:01:04] Hello everyone. Welcome back to Share, strategize, and Shine, the podcast where we explore podcasting as both a business tool. And a sacred expression. I'm Caroline and I believe that your voice is your legacy. Today's episode is an invitation, back to joy, creating content that feels good. But before we begin, I want to invite you into a little moment of breath.

[00:01:29] I want you to feel your feet on the floor. Feel the intention behind the work you're doing. Feel the part of you that wants your podcast to feel like home again, that's the energy I'm holding today and I'm so grateful you're here with me.

[00:01:50] So I, before we dive into today's content, you know, I love to give you a little personal update, something that's going on in my world, and I had a [00:02:00] mastermind meeting this morning. And I feel like I've been on the verge of this amazing explosion of meanness, I guess is the word that I'm looking for. Just really stepping into who I am and who I wanna be in the world, and how I wanna communicate that.

[00:02:19] All of those things. And I was reminded so graciously by one of my members this morning that. You know, there are times in business where we feel like we have to make things happen right now, and we feel like, oh my gosh, there's so much that I wanna do. There's also moments where I am like, why didn't I figure this out 10 years ago?

[00:02:43] You know? And then she reminded me, she's like, Caroline, you have littles. I have a 4-year-old, I have a 14-year-old and an 11-year-old. And she reminded me that. You know, I'm also a homeschool mom, and so my brain is literally in like [00:03:00] 50 different places. And so to not realize some of these shifts until later to like lose yourself and find yourself, like that's all part of the journey of a motherhood.

[00:03:10] And when you wrap that up with business, it can be a lot, it can be overwhelming. And so it was just a really good reminder that like I can set my own pace. I can achieve the things I wanna achieve as I. I want to achieve them. And I just wanna extend that out to you because I do feel like sometimes we are just so pressed to succeed, succeed, succeed, whatever that success is.

[00:03:35] And like, one of the things I like to remind my clients all the time is that every step forward is a step forward, right? Like you are. Creating the change, you're taking the motion forward and that's gonna lay the foundation for future success. And I think sometimes we get it into our head that like, okay, well I'm gonna hire this coach, I'm gonna make all these changes.

[00:03:56] I'm gonna make a million dollars. , and sometimes that's the journey is [00:04:00] not quite cut and dry. So I just wanted to remind you of that. It was a good reminder for me. I wanted to share it with you and let's dive in.

[00:04:11] So speaking of pressure, right? In podcasting, there's so much pressure to create the right content, to stay consistent, to hit every keyword, to follow a formula, right?

[00:04:19] But sometimes that pressure can leave us feeling really disconnected from our own message. I see this often with in my clients, and I've lived it too, like you'll hit publish, but it doesn't feel like your voice. And that's really where burnout starts to creep in. And here's what I've lo learned. When content feels good to create, it will feel good for your audience too.

[00:04:42] You know, energy translates the spark that you feel when something flows out of you. That's the magic and people pick up on it, right? I always tell my clients like, talk about something that you are passionate about, because they're going to pick up on that passion. They're gonna connect with you. They're going to want more of it.[00:05:00]

[00:05:02] I think that's something that I really want you to take away from this episode. There's a lot of shoulds and we're gonna talk about that, but like, you need to be creating from a place of passion. One of my clients came to me recently feeling pretty burnt out from her podcast, and she was doing all the right things, you know, batching, outlining, sticking to her niche, but her episodes felt flat.

[00:05:22] She was losing her fire. And so when anybody comes to me with this, we always go back to the beginning. Why did you start podcasting? What lit you up when you first got behind the mic? And once we got back to that place, that place of joy and curiosity, her voice came back. Not just her voice, but her energy and her audience felt it too.

[00:05:48] It's really important that this energy that I'm talking about in your podcast feels right. This is a place of connection and engagement. This is a place where we take people [00:06:00] who know about us to people who want to be part of our world. And if that passion and and energy isn't there, they're not going to want to join and, and follow that next step, right?

[00:06:15] So, so I wanna talk about some shifts that we need to make in order for our content to come from this place.

[00:06:29] The first one is let go of the shoulds. I think I mentioned this, right? Sometimes we create from a place of expectation instead of alignment, but voice keeper energy, this is a, a new term. You're gonna hear me using a lot, voice keeper energy. It starts with permission. And I'm gonna give you that permission and I want you to take it.

[00:06:52] So I want you to make a list of topics that light you up. No filters, no strategy goggles, like what's been on your heart lately, [00:07:00] what would you talk about, even if no one was listening. And it can be related to your business. it could also be not related to your business. Another really great example of this is I, I have a client who she's been wanting to expand her messaging.

[00:07:15] I feel like I, I could also use myself as an example. She's been wanting to expand her messaging. She teaches on one thing, but she's really been wanting to incorporate something. And when I hear her talk about it, I hear that passion, I hear that energy, I hear that excitement, but then she goes and talks to other people and they're like, well, I don't get it.

[00:07:32] That doesn't make sense to me. And then I keep telling her, I'm like. You're trying to create a movement. You're trying to create thought leadership around something that people are not talking about. Like lean into that, be passionate about it. That's what makes you, you. And I feel like sometimes we dim some of those lights because we.

[00:07:54] We want to sell, we want to be successful, and we wanna make sure that we talk about the things that are [00:08:00] gonna help us achieve that. And what we don't realize is that by stepping into our own , authenticity, stepping into who we really are, what we believe, what we wanna share, all of those things actually attracts the right people and it tracks more of the right people.

[00:08:15] Right? Okay. Shift number two. We wanna balance value with authenticity. So, as I just mentioned, like your audience is not here for a perfect version of you. They're here for you, your stories, your voice, your real time reflections. I want you to choose one personal experience to share in your next episode, something simple, something true, and then tie it into the lesson that you're offering.

[00:08:43] You know, this is why I like to start my episodes out by sharing something that's going on in my life or. Some advice that I've heard or something I've tried, because I want to create that connection with you so you know that I'm a real person, not just a podcast, a strategy [00:09:00] robot. And you know what's interesting about those things is when I talk to people who listen to my podcast, like, yes, they'll mention the podcast stuff, but then they always say to me like, oh, how are your kids?

[00:09:11] You homeschool, right? Or. Oh my gosh, I just heard you were in the hospital. Are you doing okay? Because you, I heard it on your podcast. You know, those are the things that make them feel really connected to you. And I'm not saying that you have to share everything. I'm not saying that you have to share your inner, most deepest, darkest world.

[00:09:29] You do not, but try sharing some things that happen in your day. I have a friend who's really, really good at this in her business, and she sends emails pretty much every day. She's a big shop and she always includes a personal story and she always finds a way to tie it back into what she's talking about.

[00:09:50] And I really want you to, I really want to encourage you to do that with your podcast as well. You know, if you're talking about a topic, how can it relate to [00:10:00] breakfast? How can it relate to your car breaking down yesterday? Think of some way to tie in. A personal experience that's gonna really deepen that connection with your audience.

[00:10:14] And then shift number three is to create from curiosity. Curiosity is one of the most powerful creative forces instead of starting with a should, right? 'cause we're getting rid of shoulds. I want you to start with, what am I exploring right now? And let that guide your episode. This is actually what I have been.

[00:10:35] Using to create this little series of episodes I've been doing about content, because I've been having the same conversations with my clients about creating content, and I started to think, you know, why is this? What am I exploring? What, what are we exploring right now and our client coach relationship?

[00:10:54] So think about your interactions. Think about what's been going on in your own world. Pick a [00:11:00] question that you've been sitting with and use it as the anchor for your next episode. , and structure it around your exploration of this topic. One of the things that I have tried to do with content creation is really change how I approach it because I mean, even I 216 episodes in this is not my first podcast, this is not the first iteration of this podcast.

[00:11:25] I get tired, you know, it gets exhausting. And I was actually talking to chat GPT the other day about how. I felt like my episodes and marketing had become so robotic, and it's because I wasn't doing these things. I wasn't balancing value with authenticity. I wasn't creating from curiosity. I was just like, you know, how can I be strategic in this moment?

[00:11:51] Which we want strategic, right? But we also want to incorporate ourselves and our own experiences, and we want to give ourselves permission to go [00:12:00] off script if needed. So. I hope that these shifts today, these little nudges are what you needed to remember, your voice, your spark, and your why, because those are the three things that are gonna make the day in and day out of producing a podcast not feel like drudgery.

[00:12:27] I keep picking these big words to say and then they come outta my mouth saying funny, kind of feeling funky. It's early in the morning when I'm recording this. I'm so tired of you guys. My mastermind meets at 6:00 AM my time, and that is not Caroline's best hour. Let me just say so. I'm a little tired today.

[00:12:45] So you know, remember that. Remember your voice. Remember your spark. Remember your why. Think about getting rid of the shoulds. I want you to balance value with authenticity and create from curiosity and let me know [00:13:00] how it goes. Okay? And if you're feeling stuck or disconnected from your content and want them, want to bring the joy back into your process, I would love to support you.

[00:13:09] This is probably the, my favorite thing that I do is help people really connect with their content and create something that is impactful for them, as a human and also for their business. So, let's. Connect one-on-one and find a rhythm that feels good again. I'm gonna put the link to book a free call in the show notes, but it's just wild home podcasting.com/call.

[00:13:31] And if this episode resonated, please share it with a friend or leave a review your words, help others find this space, and I'm so grateful for that. So thank you for being here. Thank you for sharing your time and energy with me. Remember, your voice is sacred and your content does not need to be perfect to be powerful.

[00:13:51] Until next time, keep creating from joy and trust that your voice is always enough.
