Stop Shouting into the Void: Make Your Podcast a Client Magnet

Stop Shouting into the Void: Make Your Podcast a Client Magnet

Are you feeling stuck shouting into the void of endless marketing posts with little response? Imagine having a way to directly connect with your ideal audience, build trust over time, and convert listeners into clients—without feeling pushy or burned out.

In this episode, I’m sharing a powerful, three-step framework to make your podcast an effective tool for business growth. From crafting content with intention to creating seamless calls to action, we’ll cover all the essentials to transform your podcast into a strategic pathway for real results. This episode will show you exactly how to elevate your podcast’s impact and make it an invaluable part of your business strategy.

Create with Your Ideal Client in Mind

The first step in turning your podcast into a powerful client attraction tool is to think like your ideal client. Instead of simply talking about topics you find interesting, consider the top three to five questions you always get from potential clients. These are the questions they’re Googling, the topics they’re stuck on, and the challenges they’re eager to overcome. Answering these questions on your podcast establishes you as the go-to authority in your niche.

For example, if you’re a business coach, you might create episodes like:

  • "5 Mistakes New Entrepreneurs Make"

  • "How to Set Up Your First Sales Funnel"

  • "Overcoming Imposter Syndrome in Business"

These episodes show your audience that you understand their struggles and have the expertise to help them. When you position your content in this way, listeners naturally begin to see you as someone they can trust with their specific needs.

Integrate Your Call to Action (CTA) Seamlessly

Here’s a truth many podcasters miss: people won’t act unless they’re invited to. Your podcast provides an incredible opportunity to invite listeners to take the next step, but it needs to feel natural and connected to the content. Here’s how to do it effectively:

  • Match the CTA to Your Content: If you’re discussing a topic like building confidence in public speaking, a natural CTA might be, “If you’re ready to take this further, download my free Public Speaking Confidence Guide linked in the show notes.”

  • Be Consistent: Mention your CTA at least twice during your episode. This helps listeners remember it without feeling pressured.

  • Offer Value: Make your CTA something your audience actually wants. Free resources, guides, or discovery calls that directly align with the episode topic work well.

The goal is to make taking the next step easy and appealing, turning passive listeners into active participants.

Stay Consistent and Build a Content Library

One of the most powerful aspects of podcasting is its ability to build a lasting library of knowledge. Unlike social media posts that quickly fade, podcast episodes live on, bringing new listeners and potential clients to your business long after they’re published. But consistency is key—each episode you publish adds another piece to your content ecosystem, building authority over time.

That doesn’t mean you need to release a new episode every week. Start with a cadence that’s manageable for you, whether it’s biweekly, monthly, or even a limited series. Your listeners will appreciate the regularity, and your library of content will continue to work for you in the background, reaching new audiences as it grows.

A fun fact? Most podcasts don’t make it past Episode 7. If you can build beyond that milestone, you’re already setting yourself apart and building credibility in a space where consistency is rare.

Real-Life Example: How One Podcaster Transformed Her Funnel with a Podcast

One of my clients came to me after having launched a podcast but felt it wasn’t aligned with her new direction in coaching. She was ready to pivot her content into something that would strategically attract her ideal clients. Here’s how we did it:

  1. We started by identifying her audience’s top challenges, creating episodes that addressed those pain points directly.

  2. We created a free guide designed specifically for her listeners, offering real value and naturally aligning with her podcast content.

  3. Over time, her podcast episodes became her biggest lead generator, with clients reaching out after binging her content and feeling deeply connected to her expertise and voice.

Today, her podcast not only brings in clients but also builds relationships with listeners who trust her enough to make that leap.

The Long-Lasting Power of Podcasting

Podcasting isn’t just about reaching new people; it’s about building relationships that convert. Each episode is an opportunity to show up for your audience, provide genuine value, and build trust that leads to conversions.

It’s easy to feel invisible in today’s crowded online space, but a well-crafted podcast can be a game changer. And remember, success in podcasting isn’t about going viral—it’s about creating meaningful connections with your audience, one episode at a time.

[00:00:54]

[00:00:54] [00:01:00]

[00:01:32] Hello, everyone. And welcome back to share strategize and shine.

[00:01:36] This is episode 201. That's so exciting. So I problem that I solve this week. Well, we are working on the growth challenge inside of the membership right now. And so one of the things I am really focusing on is how I'm positioning myself. How I'm writing my pitches, all of those really good, important things, because once you have your podcasts down, really the next step is okay, how do I get this [00:02:00] podcast in front of other people? And since my business has evolved this year, I've evolved as a person. One of the things that is also evolving is my messaging.

[00:02:09] So I just want to really encourage everyone. We were talking about this today. My membership like to sit down, write down what makes you unique? What makes your perspective unique? Create a list. Keep it somewhere. So whenever the opportunity arises for you to pitch yourself, you can easily look at that list and say, how can I create a pitch from this unique perspective bonus points.

[00:02:30] If you take those unique perspectives and create pitches that are already ready to go. And honestly, this makes the whole like visibility process so much easier. And this is something we talk about a lot in the membership. So if this is something you are struggling with, Definitely come and join us. And that's quick problem that we solve this week.

[00:02:50] So let's start by addressing the elephant in the room. Visibility burnout. If you are a coach consultant or [00:03:00] small business owner, you probably feel the pressure to constantly post online. Just to stay relevant. But here's the thing. Those quick posts are often fleeting and they don't always create real engagement and listen, I'm a big believer in having a mix of things, because people want to engage with you and interact with you in different ways.

[00:03:20] But see, this is where podcasting becomes a game changer. Podcasting is not about short-lived visibility. It is about consistent presence. It gives you a space to dive deeper, share stories, teach concepts, and build a relationship with your audience. Your listeners, they get to hear your voice, your tone, your passion.

[00:03:42] It's literally like you're inviting them to sit down and have a cup of coffee with you each week. And that is incredibly powerful because trust is built over time. And trust is the thing that makes someone say, yes, I want to work with you. That's the person that I want to work with. Right. The key is that [00:04:00] podcasting shifts the focus from trying to grow viral. To creating meaningful engagement.

[00:04:05] So instead of shutting loader. You're creating a space where your audience leans in and says. Tell me more, right. We're creating that space where they feel seen and heard in a way that yes, we can do on Instagram and in that short form media, but we can really take to the next level through podcasting. So, how do you actually make podcasting work for your business? So let's dive into a three-step framework that I have seen online coaches. And I'll talk about a specific example here in just a little bit used to grow their presence and convert listeners and to clients. The first thing is we want to create with our ideal client in mind.

[00:04:48] I want you to think about the top three to five questions you always get from potential clients. Like what are the things you hear over and over and over again from people who are booking discovery calls with you or [00:05:00] in those very first strategy calls. I'm sure that you can find some threads that tie everybody together. Each one of those can be turned into podcast episodes. The goal though really is to create valuable bite-size content that is addressing their challenges, desires. Or even myths that they may believe about your industry.

[00:05:22] Right. We want to kind of bust all those things. We want them to hear it and say, yeah, like I saw that thing the other day. I thought that, but you've really changed my perspective on it. We want to become the authority to help them do that, to bust those myths, to see that their desires can be achieved. And that they can overcome their challenges. And here's a little bonus tip. You know, we really want to make your episodes clear and curiosity driven.

[00:05:49] So one of my favorite things is to use numbers in titles, and it's so hard not to use them in every single title. So we do want to balance it out, but I love [00:06:00] titles. Like the five biggest mistakes new coaches make. It's something that they cannot resist clicking. Right. So that's step one. Step two is you want to start to integrate your call to actions.

[00:06:14] Naturally, a podcast episode is your chance to educate, inspire, or entertain. But you have to invite your listeners to take the next step and it doesn't have to feel pushy. So for example, I always encourage my clients to share an opt-in or a freebie or a free resource, something that they can just join for free in their outro. The cool thing about that is we're taking that connection.

[00:06:41] That's formed on the podcast and we're saying here's even more. And then when they get on our email list, we say here's even more. And a lot of times those downloads are going to turn into clients, whether that's through a membership or one-on-one services. The trick really is to [00:07:00] align the call to action with the content of the episode. So for instance, if you're talking about overcoming the fear of public speaking, you can invite listeners to download a worksheet or book, a discovery call with you to work through their speaking anxiety with you. We really want to connect the call to action to the content.

[00:07:17] So it's an easy next step for them.

[00:07:21] And then step number three is we want to use the power of consistency. This is where a lot of people get tripped up. So the launch a podcast, get a few episodes in and then. Life happens. Right? Life happens. Business happens, who knows. But consistency is everything in podcasting. I say this with like a lot of caveats, because I know when I say, oh, you have to post consistently your brain probably immediately goes to feeling overwhelmed.

[00:07:51] So a lot of times with clients we'll start with you, don't have to post weekly. If that feels , overwhelming biweekly, or even monthly can work. [00:08:00] But you need to be consistent with, with that ever schedule, you choose. So your audience will know what to expect. The other thing with consistency is making sure that you have processes in place. And this can be. Real make or break for your podcast success because when you start to create content every week, you're filling your schedule every week. We have content creation. That's a multiple step piece of content creation.

[00:08:26] If you don't have a plan for how that's going to fit into your, your week, your life, all the things. That can cause you to be inconsistent as well. So usually when people say to me, they're overwhelmed by the idea of consistency, I say, well, let's walk through your processes. So here's a fun fact. Most podcasts fail by episode seven.

[00:08:45] Can you believe that? So, if you can get past that mark, you're already ahead of the game. And I always tell my clients, like let's get to episode 25 and reevaluate how things are working, what we might need to change up. But the key here [00:09:00] is you cannot just give up after. A month of episodes, two month of episodes. So I want to share a real life example. Okay. So let's talk about one of my clients. Now. She had had a podcast. I think it had had a couple of seasons and had done really, really well. But she was switching gears. She was going to be entering more of the coaching space and she really wanted, to create a podcast that was going to work well in her funnel and help her strategically. Now before when she had podcasted, she had just kind of created episodes on whatever she felt. Was fun to record about at the time. And when she came to me, I immediately was like, we're going to get very strategic here. So initially when we started planning her content, we created an episode series answering those biggest questions she got got from her potential clients. One of my favorite things to do when I work with people is literally just have them describe.

[00:09:58] So in our call, [00:10:00] I'll just have them brain dump on their ideal client. What they're struggling with, what they're working on, all of those things. And we just come up with a list of episode ideas. And this is a really great place to start. If you're wanting your content to be a little bit more strategic and you feel like it's not quite there. That is exactly where I start. So we created some really great episodes, such as, you know, what metrics should I be counting, obviously a little bit more glamorous in the title or five ways to deal with imposter syndrome, things that are very specific like that. And then from there she created a free download.

[00:10:38] So I believe she already had one, but created a new one for her podcast, which I think is genius. And that led into her email funnel and that simple guide. That she created this simple PDF has become one of her biggest lead generators. So fast forward. She's become the go-to expert in her niche. Her visibility has grown, but more [00:11:00] importantly, the right people are finding her. People who have connected with her message. And are really trusting her, right?

[00:11:08] Because they're following her podcasts. They're following her on Instagram. They're following her in a few places. And now she's actually getting clients from her podcast. And I believe the last number she shared with me was around eight or something like that. So it's absolutely possible. It's. Really possible for that to happen. But I want to go back to something that I mentioned. When people come to me. A lot of times they'll say. What if I spend all this time creating a podcast and it doesn't work.

[00:11:46] And this is a very valid fear, but here's the truth.

[00:11:49] Okay. No marketing strategy is guaranteed to work right away. The difference with podcasting is that even if growth starts [00:12:00] slowly. Every episode you published becomes part of your library. I talk about this library of knowledge that you're creating, right? It's this. Place that houses, everything that, you know, Everything that you're an authority on and it continues to work for you in the background.

[00:12:18] I mean, there are people who find me, who've been listening to my episodes for years, and then they joined something or they just found me in the binge, like episodes from the beginning of my podcast, which I'm like, you know, go, go forward. And they joined my membership or a book, a podcast audit or something like that. And that really is the magic of long form content, is that it literally can live forever. And it can work for you in the background. Forever. But you have to be strategic about it. The other thing that I love so much about podcasting, that's different than a lot of [00:13:00] types of medium, I think is that it really does build relationships.

[00:13:03] Listeners who tune in week after week. They get to know you, they get to like you. They trust you. And that's the foundation that leads to sales without feeling pushy. Relationship building has become such a huge part of our online business world industry. And if you are not working on building relationships, like. Go back to the, go back to square one.

[00:13:27] Like you really need to do this as something that I have been focusing on this year with my business coach and it has been such a game changer. And what's so cool about that is I'm able to very easily incorporate that into my podcast process because podcasting is literally the bridge. That goes over the gap from short form content. To actually booking a service with you.

[00:13:50] So, if you've been feeling invisible in the crowded online space, maybe it's time to consider podcasting or refreshing your podcast.

[00:13:58] So it's actually [00:14:00] working for you. And remember, it's not about going viral, it's about creating a meaningful connection with your audience. One episode at a time.
